British consumers have made Google the most highly-rated brand of 2011, according to the annual YouGov BrandIndex league table.
The research company measures consumer perception of brands with six categories including value, quality and corporate reputation making up an average score that determines where they rank in the Index.
Google just managed to pip Amazon to the BrandIndex summit with a score of 60.1, while the multinational ecommerce site scored 58.7 and was one of only three brands to actually increase their score on the 2010 result.
“It’s been a tough year for the leading brands, very few have managed to improve their perceptions in consumers’ eyes,” said Sarah Murphy, YouGov’s Associate Director, BrandIndex.
Surprisingly there was no room in the top 20 for Facebook, Twitter or Apple which means there may be space for the PureBlue web design London brand in the 2012 BrandIndex.
There was further surprise in our offices today as web designer Tomasz made his annual round of tea for the team A case of PureBrew: We are tea.
