This latest addition to our ever expanding web design is just the start of what we expect to be a frantic next few weeks as we have a number of projects that are ready to go live in the near future.

We have also been busy pitching new web design ideas to prospective clients so there is plenty more to come from the PureBlue team in 2012, which is shaping up to be an exciting year full of opportunities.

Reports have suggested that Facebook will start the process of becoming a publicly-listed company (PLC) this week.

zuker Facebook Expected To Float

The Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal have stated that the social network is set to file papers with the Securities and Exchange Commission in order to commence an initial public offering (IPO).

Facebook’s estimated share value has valued the company as being worth as much as £100 billion and the social network will test the financial water by floating later this year.

It has been predicted that a share sale might be launched as early as May, which could raise as much as $10 billion, with Morgan Stanley being tipped to be the lead underwriter.

The expected amount of $10 billion might be tempered by stock market fragility but it is more than likely that it will dramatically exceed the $1.9bn raised by Google at its own IPO in 2004.

Facebook is a great example of a company that has enjoyed rapid expansion and achieved near-world domination and PureBlue are aiming to follow in their footsteps by adding more employees to our web design London team in the future.

If Britain ever escapes the never ending threat of a double dip recession it could all be thanks to Facebook.

zuck Facebook Boosts British Economy By Billions

The social network commissioned accountancy firm Deloitte to report how much it was contributing to the UK economy and the total figure was estimated to be in excess of £2 billion.

Deloitte’s report claims that Facebook is indirectly responsible for the creation of an “app economy” worth in the region of £500 million, which has generated over 35,000 jobs.

Furthermore, the report also highlights the social media ‘business participation effects’ of organisations that use Facebook pages to advertise and engage with customers, which is claimed to be worth £1.14 billion.

The internet marketing employment opportunities afforded by Facebook are also said to have helped created nearly 20,000 British jobs which is welcome news at a time of almost record unemployment.

Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer of Facebook, said: “Increasingly, social media means growth and jobs. Social media is proving particularly valuable for small- and medium-sized businesses, which form the backbone of the European economy.”

Google has announced that it has changed it’s search algorithm to penalise pages with lots of adverts at the top.

googleblur Google To Penalise Ad Heavy Web Pages

This latest update, which is called the “page layout algorithm”, has been created to tackle web pages that have numerous adverts above-the-fold overshadowing content that is buried towards the bottom.

The change relates to user experience because Google believes that pages which have content hidden below-the-fold generated a lot of complaints from people who were forced to scroll down to reach their desired information.

If your website suddenly suffers a drop in keyword rankings, then chances are you’ve been hit by the new algorithm, however don’t worry too much as the change will impact less than one per cent of Google’s global searches.

This most recent update demonstrates the further emphasis that Google is placing on user experience so it is important that your website adheres to the latest usability guidelines.

Travelling around Britain is set to become easier after it was announced that Google Maps will incorporate train travel.

Google Maps will soon feature train travel routes and timetables after partnering with train ticket company thetrainline.com in a partnership forged just in time for the London Olympic Games.

Added Google Maps functionality will allow users to look for train tickets and make bookings on thetrainline.com which should enable Olympic visitors to better prepare their travels around our green and pleasant land.

It is estimated that Britain will play host to more than 31 million visitors during the Olympics so technological innovation such as this is welcome news for those worried about how the UK’s infrastructure will cope.

PureBlue are gearing up for the Games with the whole web design London team sticking to a strict diet of Wagon Wheels and tea in a bid to be in peak physical condition come the end of June.
